Shafeeq Shameel & Co. Located in Ambur, India were established in 1967 as tanner and exporter of finished leather to the European, US and Asian markets. We are one of the pioneers in tanning and finishing of kid skins, made out of carefully chosen raw-stocks purchased from all over India, with specialty full-veg and semi-veg, as well as chrome-free and metal tannages, producing up to 1 million feet of customized leathers per month.

We are committed to environmental protection and sustainability with LWG GOLD rating and other credentials. We strive to conserve and optimize usages of resources and manufacture the best quality leather with fewer additives, in a safe and clean environment with continual improvements to prevent and reduce waste and pollution.

We are present in important shows like Lineapelle – Milan, Premiere Vision – Paris & APLF Hong Kong, among others.

Vegetable Tanning is an artisan craft, which has been passed over generations. At SSC, we preserve these traditional techniques whilst embracing modern trend and technology, using natural elements to ensure unique, eco-friendly leathers. We go from source to product using single origin skins, resulting in fine leathers of rich character.

We now process leathers of Organicraft® with metal-free tannages for a biodegradable end product.

The tannery dates back to 1967 – strategically located between Chennai and Bangalore, in the town of Ambur. We use carefully chosen raw-stocks in the tanning and finishing of kid skins. With our expertise in veg tanning, we have gradually evolved producing also mixed semi-veg leathers. Innovation is key at SSC, and with continued dedication towards eco-friendly, natural materials, we progressively build our range of chrome-free, metal-free and exclusive Organicraft leathers.
